Gwangju ACE (Asia Content & Entertainment) Fair – 2015

Gwangju ACE (Asia Content & Entertainment) Fair is an international content licensing fair supported by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea, hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City and co-organized by Kimdsejung Convention Center, Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency and Gwangju Design Center.
It is one of the most prestigious culture content exhibitions, which shows Broadcast Game Character Animation Edutainment and all types of licensing content. It has acquired a set of certifications including the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry by UFI and the Association of Korea Exhibition Industry (AKEI) by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), thereby growing into an international cultural contents exhibition. Additionally, Gwangju ACE Fair has been chosen as a promising exhibition for 4 consecutive years (2012 to 2015)
10th edition of ACE Fair was held at Kimdsejung Convention Center, Gwangju, South Korea from 17th to 20th September 2015. ACE Fair is an exhibition that gathers various cultural content firms from around the world and provides them an opportunity for knowledge sharing and networking.
The Government of Karnataka, Dept of IT BT and S&T and KBITS has been constantly encouraging the AVGC industry by hosting world class events like ABAI Fest and KAVGC Summit and has also been very encouraging to Bengaluru bred companies to participate in National and International summits to showcase their skill sets. So with the support of Government of Karnataka this year a 12 member delegation from ABAI participated in the ACE Fair 2015;

The 4 day event had a proper blend of knowledge sharing, interaction, networking, media and entertainment. ABAI had a pavilion with a cluster of 12 booths with each company’s name facia.
The delegates had fruitful meetings with various Animation production companies, Game Developing companies, TV broadcasters, Content Buyers/ Distributors, and IP Creators. The team had meetings with companies from South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Poland, USA, Spain, Dubai, India and China. Few are mentioned below;

ABAI – Outcome:
Mr Sushil Bhasin, Chairman, International Alliances Committee met organizers of other associations and festivals and discussed how we could bridge ABAI Fest & KAVGC Summit with other events pertaining to AVGC. The organizers were from Poland, Dubai and China and Japan.
The fair was organized very well and every delegate was allotted with an interpreter. To summarize the entire trip, the whole delegation expressed their thankfulness to the government of Karnataka initiative through KBITS & ABAI for the exposure given and
expressed that the visits should be an annual feature from Karnataka so that a continuous dialogue is maintained to learn and implement the projects in line with the developments all over the world. It also gave gateway to invite the leading animation studios to Bangalore to showcase the technological developments to stakeholders in Karnataka. Twelve member ABAI’s delegation to the ACE Fair 2015 was the biggest delegation from ABAI to any event. Participants from other country’s pavilions were thrilled to see an Indian
delegation of 12 people sponsored by Government of Karnataka participating in the Fair which also created genuine interest in them and their participating studios to explore the Karnataka market for co- production and for setting up production studios.
